Flower Faerie

This is a bit of a cross post from my plushie blog. I did a commission recently for a friend (pre-denmark!) of one of my own designs. It was great to be able to make it and a bit of a challenge with the eyes.

Interviews

Did a couple of interviews recently about my art and plushies. Here's the one I did with @rcade and another I did for deviantart.
Check them out if you're interested.

In other news I'm heading to Denmark in a couple of weeks (for whole four months). I have so much to do, plushies to finish, move house, and pack everything into two bags.
Also, I keep losing t-shirts. This one for example:

Its been lost to the t-shirt gods.

The King Plush

So I got around eventually to making the King plushie that I blogged about here before. I was really looking forward to making him and I'm liking the way he turned out. I made him so that he can be hung on a wall to display him properly.

I did mean to take photos as I was sowing but completely forgot about that. Still, here he is in all his regal glory.
For sale now in my etsy (US) and dawanda (EU) shop

Update

Time is up on the plushie potential vote and the King character won it, Winter came in a close second. When I start making it I'll try and post up some process pictures to show how the design goes from drawing to plushie. If I find the time, I'll try and make the winter plushie too, but no promises!

In other news, my short film Donkey, will be screening in front of Mary and Max in the IFI in Dublin from today. I'm really happy about it, the feature is a great stop motion film from Australia and I'm hoping lots more people will get to see my film.
Also Donkey recently got into its 20th festival, so its still going strong. The list of festivals and screenings of it are over on the Barley Films website.

Music Lovers

Here is a plushie and a related bonus sketch!
I forgot to post up this screenprint when I made it last year and today I was doodling something similar so I thought I'd post up the both of them.

I sent the two watercolour bunnies off in the post. I havn't forgotten my promise to have more giveaways but I had a crap-tastic cold last week and thats the excuse I'm sticking too...

Cutscenes: Morning Birds

I have started a project I'm calling cutscenes.
Its basically embroidered illustrations, using the texture and stitches as part of its appeal.

This is cut scenes of the morning birds I see on my way to work everyday.

If anyone has any advice on how to hang or frame embroidery pieces like this please let me know!

Linen and cotton mix with felt and embroidery thread.

screen printed plushies!

I did some screen printing of my designs on to fabric last weekend. It's something I've wanted to do for ages, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Each one is unique as its not a perfect process, but I think that adds to the end product. I made five of each one in different colours and on different fabric. I'll be putting the rest of them up soon.

Their available now in my etsy and dawanda shops, the links are on the right.
